This chapter is designed to cover the Standard Letter options using WordLink available within Expert Agent.
*Please note this content is trained live on a weekly basis and we do recommend you sit the live training before attempting to set up your templates.
WordLink was introduced in early 2012. It replaces all previous methods of producing standard letters in Expert Agent and it has but one setup requirement.
You need a copy of Microsoft Word on every PC. Ideally, you need the same version on each PC. If you have Word 2007 or later, you have all you need. If you have Word 2003, you’ll need to download Microsoft’s document converter because WordLink uses the later .docx file format rather than the earlier .doc.  Some customers have tried to use free wordprocessors that are, in theory, Word compatible. We can't help or advise relating to this. If you choose to try to edit your Wordlink derived .docx files in something other than Word 2007 or better, you're on your own. Take care with Office 365 which is Microsoft's new way of giving you Office for a monthly subscription. The entry level versions only give you cloud-based limited versions of Word, Excel etc rather than the full on-your-pc versions. These won't work easily with Expert Agent - your PC needs to open a Docx file when your browser downloads one. You might be able to get it to work but, why bother when the traditional desktop versions of Office are just a quid or two more per month?
Please note we do not support versions of Word lower than 2007 on PC's. On Macs we recommend Office 365 (please note Word will only work on a Desktop/Laptop installation rather than mobile - I.E. iPads etc). Â
